Nvidia doubles down on Europe: stakes in four French AI startups and $250 million of compute donated to the UK

Nvidia is turning Europe into a main arena for its AI push. During CEO Jensen Huang’s trip to Paris, he announced stakes in four French AI startups: healthcare platform Doctolib, general-purpose robotics company Genesis AI, atomic-scale materials company Entalpic and enterprise planning software maker Pigment. All are minority stakes, spanning healthcare, robotics, materials and enterprise software.

Nvidia is also donating $250 million worth of computing power to the UK, to be used over five years for research on AI safety and agent safety, supporting related labs at UCL, Oxford and Imperial College London.

This comes just weeks after Nvidia’s roughly $12.9 billion acquisition of French AI platform Hugging Face. Beyond chips, Nvidia is using equity and compute to buy its ticket into Europe’s AI ecosystem, and Huang said he wants to “ignite Europe’s AI revolution.” Note that the size and valuation of the four investments have not been disclosed.
